Caracas, 02 de septiembre de 2015.- El expresidente de Colombia, Ernesto Samper, propuso este miércoles una reunión entre los jefes de Estado de Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, y de Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, para abordar la problemática en la frontera colombo-venezolana, agravada actualmente por la penetración del paramilitarismo y el contrabando de extracción de alimentos y de productos venezolanos hacia el vecino país.
"Descartados como parecen haber sido los escenarios hemisféricos para solucionar el conflicto entre los dos países, en mi condición de expresidente de Colombia, formulo una invitación cordial a los Presidentes Juan Manuel Santos y Nicolás Maduro para que, siguiendo una larga tradición en la solución de nuestras crisis binacionales, se reúnan en un sitio emblemático para poner fin a las diferencias e inaugurar una nueva etapa de auspicioso relacionamiento para nuestros pueblos", expresó el actual secretario de la Unión de Naciones Suramericanas (Unasur), en un comunicado del portal Web Unasursg.org.
En el texto, publicado en el portal web de Unasur, Samper exhortó a que en el marco del Bicentenario de la Carta de Jamaica -escrita por el Libertador Simón Bolívar el 6 de septiembre de 1815-, se tome como ejemplo el ideal bolivariano de integración de los pueblos de Latinoamérica, para construir una nueva etapa de relaciones bilaterales, basadas en el diálogo y el respeto.
Para el próximo 8 de septiembre estaba prevista una reunión de emergencia de cancilleres de Unasur, para abordar la problemática en la frontera colombo-venezolana. No obstante, el presidente Santos informó este martes que su Gobierno desistió de asistir.
Colombia condicionó su participación a que el encuentro se realizara esta semana -cuando la canciller venezolana, Delcy Rodríguez, acompaña al presidente Nicolás Maduro a la gira de trabajo por Vietnam y China-, en lugar del martes 8, la fecha que se logró coordinar con las otras naciones miembros de Unasur. Inicialmente, para abordar la actual crisis fronteriza, Bogotá había pautado un primer encuentro entre las cancillerías de Venezuela y Colombia para el 14 de septiembre.
Venezuela ha reiterado el llamado al diálogo para solventar el conflicto en la frontera, sobre la base del respeto y la verdad.
El secretario de la Unasur ratificó, también, el compromiso del organismo multilateral de "acompañar y apoyar todas las iniciativas que conduzcan a mantener la vigencia de los derechos humanos, la paz y la integración de nuestros pueblos".
La frontera de Venezuela con Colombia -que se extiende por más de dos mil kilómetros- fue cerrada parcialmente en el estado Táchira el pasado 19 de agosto, luego de que se registrara un ataque en el resultaron gravemente heridos tres soldados de la Fuerza Armada Nacional Bolivariana mientras realizaban labores de combate contra el contrabando de extracción.

"Discarded as they seem to have been the hemispheric scenarios to resolve the conflict between the two countries, in my capacity as president of Colombia, I express a cordial invitation to the Presidents Juan Manuel Santos and Nicolas Maduro that, following a long tradition in solving our binational crisis, meet in a landmark to end differences and usher in a new stage of relations auspicious site for our peoples, "said the current secretary of the Union of South American Nations (Unasur) in a Web site statement Unasursg .org.
In the text, published on the web portal of Unasur, Samper called for in the Bicentennial of the Charter of Jamaica -written by the Liberator Simon Bolivar on September 6, 1815, is taken as an example the Bolivarian ideal of integration of the peoples of Latin America to build a new stage of bilateral relations, based on dialogue and respect.
By next September 8 it was scheduled an emergency meeting of foreign ministers of Unasur, to address issues on the Colombian-Venezuelan border. However, President Santos said Tuesday that his government withdrew to attend.
Colombia conditioned its participation in the meeting it will be held this week, when the Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodríguez, accompanying President Nicolas Maduro to working trip to Vietnam and China, instead of Tuesday 8, the date to be able to coordinate with the other member nations of UNASUR. Initially, to address the current border crisis, Bogotá had scheduled a first meeting between the foreign ministers of Venezuela and Colombia for 14 September.
Venezuela has repeatedly called for dialogue to resolve the conflict at the border, on the basis of respect and truth.
Secretary of Unasur ratified also the commitment of the multilateral agency "accompany and support all initiatives leading to maintain the observance of human rights, peace and integration of our peoples."
Venezuela's border with Colombia, which spans more than two thousand miles-was partially closed in Tachira state last August 19 after an attack recorded in were seriously wounded three soldiers of the Bolivarian National Armed Force while they are carrying out work to combat smuggling extraction.
